Aggravated battery is a felony of the second degree punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Under Florida statute 784.045 there are three ways for the State to prove aggravated battery. To support a conviction the State must show that you:

a)  intentionally or knowingly caused great bodily harm, permanent disability, or permanent disfigurement to another or
b) that you used a deadly weapon in the course of committing a battery or
c) that you committed a battery on a pregnant person when you knew or should have known they were pregnant.
