Discharging a Firearm

To prove the charge of discharging a firearm the State must prove that knowingly discharged (shot) a firearm (gun) in a public place or that you discharged a firearm from your car within 1000 feet from any person. Discharging of a firearm in a public place is a first degree misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in the county jail. Discharge of a firearm from a vehicle is a second degree felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Your firearm may also be confiscated by the State.
